Chemical Compatibility
Chemical Compatibility
Chemical compatibility is an important factor when selecting an O-ring material.
Different materials perform differently depending on the fluid, temperature, pressure, and operating conditions involved. A material that works well in one environment may not be suitable in another.
General reminder:
• NBR is commonly used in many standard oil-related applications
• EPDM is often selected for water and weather-related conditions
• FKM is often preferred for more demanding chemical and temperature environments
• Silicone is often chosen where flexibility and temperature range are important
